Fishing Village In Northern Hsinchu Tour (1)

Xinpu Old Street/Hsinwawu /Fuller Leisure Fishing village/Xinyue Beach

Hakka Life and Temples
About 90 percent of the residents of Xinpu Township are Hakka. The ethnic composition is evident in the simplicity and work ethic of the people, as well as in the unique local architecture of the town. Many of the townspeople wake and retire each day with the sun, leading a life closely linked to the land.

Although the traditional culture and way of life of the Hakka people has ebbed with the decline of the agrarian economy in Taiwan, one can still catch a rare glimpse of this earlier life in at several well-preserved Hakka historic sites in Xinpu, such as the Liu Family Ancestral Shrine, Heping Street, and Shuangtangwu. There are also plenty of eateries in Xinpu serving up authentic Hakka cuisine with that old-time taste.

Xinyue Beach is an ideal place for swimming and various type of water activities. The beach extends along the coastline in Zhubei City (竹北市), Hsinchu County and shapes like a moon, so it also known as New Moon Bay in Mandarin. Onsite public facilities include toilets, changing rooms and shower area. There are also some food and beverage stands by the beach entrance on weekends. Hsinchu County Government has been holding music festival every summer which makes Xinyue Beach become one of the popular attractions in Hsinchu.
